EA Sports released Title Update 2.5 for College Football 27 on July 23, 2026 — the third patch since launch. While not the major first-month update players are waiting for, it addresses several high-priority issues across Gameplay, Road to Glory, and Dynasty.

Gameplay Fixes

Switch Stick Input Delay (Again): The update addressed issues where Switch Stick input could be delayed when quickly changing defenders. This was supposedly fixed in the July 16 patch, but players reported it persisted. Title Update 2.5 takes another pass at the problem.

Timing-Based Catching Nerf: The most controversial change. EA adjusted timing-based catching to reduce its effectiveness on contested catches. Wide receivers who relied on perfect-timing green catches to win 50/50 balls will notice a difference. The community reaction is split — defensive players celebrate, while WR mains call it a nerf to skill expression.

Defensive Package Updates: Zone coverage adjustments and logic improvements were included, building on the defensive package persistence fix from July 16.

Punting Fix: Unrealistic punting distances and hang times were addressed.

Road to Glory Fixes

  • Timing Base Catching fix for RTG skill positions
  • Progression issues addressed where some players were not earning expected XP
  • EDGE position battle improvements (Part 2 of the ongoing fix)

Dynasty Changes

  • Recruiting logic improvements for CPU teams
  • Offseason progression tuning
  • Additional fixes for late-cycle recruiting dead zones

Live Content Update

Alongside Title Update 2.5, EA pushed a Live Content Update adding new uniforms and presentation elements. An unlocked uniform glitch was discovered by community members shortly after the update went live.

Community Reaction

The Daytona Beach News-Journal noted the patch is "unlikely to stem the tide of players upset over the generally popular video game" — a reference to the ongoing Steam review recovery. Athlon Sports called it a "targeted improvement" while noting the major gameplay-focused patch is still pending.

The WR contested catch nerf is the loudest talking point. Competitive players who built their offense around timing-based WR dominance are adjusting their playbooks, while defensive players report more balanced matchups in online play.

What Is Still Coming

EA confirmed "more highly requested updates are coming soon." The community wishlist remains:

  • Defense flip bug (slot corner travel failure)
  • Formation shift glitch (Gun Bunch Nasty)
  • Green timing catch metering off chip releases
  • Pancake block rate reduction
  • Cap Breaker application fix for RTG
